Farm description
Welcome to Pleasant Acre Farms
Pleasant Acre Farms was established early 2009. We would not have been able to do what we have without the help of family. It is very important to us to have our family involved in our business. We would like to send a special thank you to both of our parents for helping us start our family business.
My husband Neil and I have three children, Grace who is 5, Elijah is 4 and little Addisyn who is 3. They do keep us very busy and on our toes. The kids and myself love going out to the farm and helping Neil as much as we can. Sometimes the kids get a little distracted, but they are involved and having fun.
In 2009 Neil attended 3-4 farmers markets a week with limited production on under an acre of production. In 2010 we expanding our production to about 6 acres, added a 30'x96' high tunnel to allow us to provide tomatoes earlier in the season, and expanded our offering on a wide variety of vegetables. In 2011 we have increased our production to 15 acres. We have converted a hog barn to a greenhouse and we have year round production. We also installed a biomass burner that heats our greenhouse using renewable energy crops. In 2012 we are working on adding a commercial kitchen to our farm to offer processed product through freezing of our extra produce. We are striving to reduce our waste and have the ability to offer products that are done the way that "grandma used to."
Our farm products are 100% naturally produced. We are not organic certified, but we use organic practices.
Please visit our market page under the "Sell" tab to see what markets we will be at and when we will be there. We currently have 3 employees in addition to Neil. He puts in many hours trying his best to provide not only for our family but people throughout the community.
